The thumb piece of our swivel thumb latches is curved so that it sits into the thumb latch's neck, preventing it from falling out of the latch when the door is slammed shut. The grip is forged into a half round stock, tapering in at each end, and marked with a Salem Cross, a marking frequently filed onto hardware in New England. Due to its size, this thumb latch is typically used on exterior doors and comes with a thumb piece for a standard 1 3/4" thick door. If you have a thicker door, please contact us and we can make a custom thumb piece to fit the thickness of your door for an additional $10.
Our thumb latches are available with two different bar sets.
Standard Bar Sets are used to have the decorative thumb latch on the push side of the door. This is true of most passage doors.
Reverse Bevel Bar Sets are used to have the thumb latch on the pull side of the door. This is frequently used on closet doors, stairway doors and storm doors.
