H and HL hinges are designed for interior doors. They are made of thicker stock than eighteenth century originals, primarily because modern interior doors are standardized at a thickness of 1 3/8". Antique doors were frequently constructed from boards of an inch or less in thickness and were also often shorter and narrower. An HL hinge at the top and bottom and an H hinge in the center will help prevent the door from warping. All doors using H and HL hinges must be mounted flush.
